The leadership behind Joyous Events LLC is Marilyn Patterson, a skilled Event Manager who serves as the CEO (Chief Experience Organizer). She is a graduate of The George Washington University Event Management Program, holds a B.S. in Psychology from Virginia State University, is a Leadership Alexandria graduate, a Past President of the Association of Wedding Professionals of Greater Washington, DC, a Professional Wedding Planner™ certified by the Association of Bridal Consultants and is a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. In 2018, her signature event ‘Wedding Planners UnPlugged!’, a Real Talk Forum for Wedding Planners, celebrates its 5th year anniversary as she serves as the newly appointed Executive Director of ‘First Night Alexandria,’ a family-friendly celebration of New Year’s Eve in its 24th year.
Passionate about doing things decently and in order, Marilyn established Joyous Events LLC in 2004 as the exclusive provider of Wedding Day Coordination services for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships that called on the Port of Baltimore, MD. Since that time, Joyous Events has developed a solid reputation of excellence through delivering well-organized events that support a variety of Associations, Non-Profit, Faith-Based, Political and Corporate entities in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
